Access to software development talent and 40% cost savings

ProSave's procurement system for electrical engineering companies competes on price and intelligent features. The need for specific competencies in software development led the company out of Denmark and towards Ukraine in the east. Cooperating with Livatek has secured special competencies for ProSave, high quality product development and overall savings of 40%.

According to ProSave, the way to an improved bottom line for professional electrical engineers and builders starts with the procurement process. The company has developed a procurement system, where professionals 1) quickly find goods and components across wholesalers and 2) submit orders directly to each individual wholesaler. In this manner, ProSave offers access to almost ½ million different items and it handles orders of millions of euro.

Engineers in the building industry buy many different materials and components every day. They will often go to different websites for lowest prices, specific items or substitutes for items that are not available. They have to be aware that items are often called different things and they have to be almost experts in navigating the different interfaces.

The ability to quickly compare prices from different wholesalers saves money – which is of course important to our clients. But just as important is the intelligence in the procurement system itself. It makes it easier and faster to navigate and find the right items. And this puts ProSave in front, says René Balslev, Founder and CEO of ProSave. ‍

The process takes time. ProSave offers a consolidated overview of product offerings, product names, prices and availability with leading wholesalers. It is very user-friendly allowing our clients to order different items with different wholesalers in one go. Since our launch in 2015, Prosave gives our clients documented saving of between 8 to 13%, says René Balslev.

Specific competencies and talent are not available in Denmark

The Prosave platform is accessed through computers, tablets and smartphones. It was specifically the development of ProSave's mobile application that in 2017 led the company towards Kyiv, Ukraine, from where Livatek has delivered the right development competence.

“Our mobile application needed a lift. It has to work really very fast when engineers and technicians need to order goods while in 4th floor apartment of Mrs Smith. So, touch ID was on the feature list. More than that, we needed work flows for optional approval of the order by managers in the office. Synchronization between product names and integration with costing tools of the industry was also among the features to be developed”, says René Balslev.

To find a person in Denmark who can solve this task turned out to the extremely difficult.  

"This was actually not one but several complex tasks and it was difficult to cover the need of those different talents needed with one person. We have previously worked with Ukrainian software developers, which is one of the reasons that working with Livatek was attractive to us. Livatek offers talent, but also takes care of communication, validation, ensures quality and quantity of work, and offers colleagues and physical infrastructure in a value-supporting environment”, says René Balslev.

Overall savings of 40%

Financially, we are probably saving around 40% on a recurring basis compared to hiring locally - if it at all would be possible for us to find the right talent. Anyways, if I were to manage things myself, that would take a lot more of my time and thus delay progress considerably", says René Balslev.

Positive experience with the competencies of Livatek, its handling of processes and with the quality of the work done had let ProSave to employ a full-time search engine expert through Livatek.
